PREACHER’S BLOG

“Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him all creatures here below. Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.” Thus are the words of the Doxology. All praise belongs to God. I want to ascribe praise to God today as we are rejoicing in the action taken this past Sunday (February 24) to move forward with the building project for a new worship facility. We will be moving working with Wilson Buildings.

This has been a long process for us. For about 20 years our leadership has been talking about a new worship facility. We have met with and talked with several church building companies through these years. Now it is finally taking wings. Let me stress that our need for a new facility is great. Our current building in an older building and is experiencing much in the way of the aging process. The maintenance costs for the current building have been enormous. Repairs have been made and still need to be made. The utility costs are big. The new facility should show quite a substantial savings in the utility costs alone. Our current facility has a lot of stairs and that makes it difficult for people to get into the building and get to various places. Stairs are unavoidable. But let me emphasize that this is not just about ‘building a building.’ This is about ‘building the church.’ We have seen declining numbers in the most recent years and our current building in not conducive to attracting new people. Our prayer is that the new building will be an incentive for new people coming and that we will become more involved in the working of bringing people to Jesus Christ.

Hopefully by April we will be able to see dirt being moved and work beginning on the new facility. We will work toward a ground breaking day soon. It is exciting indeed to envision the blessing of the Lord in a new worship center. Let me urge you to be in prayer daily about this project. We still need to raise funds for the project. On Sunday, March 31, we will be receiving a love offering for the new building. I encourage each of us to give the most generous gift you have given to date. You will be hearing more about the financing of the new building soon. If you would like to make a special financial gift for this project you can do so by clicking on the “Give” tag on the home page or you can contact us for further information. All gifts are tax deductible.
